Looking for suggestions. I've made it until today 10/11 and still haven't turned the heat on. Though the husband and teenage boy are starting to complain. I'd love to go until November 1 without turning the heat on. I, truthfully, do no know if that is possible.

So I'm looking for suggestions ... how do you keep warm without turning the heat on?

Here are a few ideas:
- wear warmer clothes
-snuggle under blankets during the day
-extra blankets at night
-leave the oven door open after baking to let the heat out.

That's all i can think of right now

In the evening while watching t.v. I always cover up with a blanket (like the other said) but I also heat up the Magic Bag (bean bag) for a few minutes and put it on my feet to warm me up....works great!!

we got out the flannel sheets and they are on the beds now..so they are toasty warm at night.
socks and slippers on your feet
sweaters if you are cold
and if you are watching tv and cold, throw a blanket on or have a kid snuggle up to you( or a pet).

Open up the curtains during the sunny times to help warm up the house, bake, cover windows with plastic. I am hoping our heat does not come on until at least November. We are still getting day time temps in the 70's

invest in a duck feather comforter, you will be amazed at how warm it keeps you, we did that when we lived in england with no central heating

We bought a couple of small space heaters at Target last year. They were like $20 each. They don't cost anymore to plug in and run than the tv does. The ones we have are fans and stay cool to the touch. They also have a sensor so if they get bumped or tipped even a tiny bit they shut off and you have to push a reset to start them up. We checked with the fire dept. and they said they are as safe as anything else you plug in your house and very kid friendly. We hardly ever used the heater last year even when it was below freezing outside because of those heaters. They rock.

Every year I always hope to go until November 1 without the heat turned on. This year so far, we have not turned it on yet! It's been in the 80's here during the day. I hope to go at least another week before turning it on. It's supposed to get chillier later this week though.

I suggest wearing warmer clothes and using blankets.
