I hate AOL. We are a trial period for free when we first bought our computer. Tried cancelling and they kept billing. Most I talked to couldn't speak where they could be understood and I was actually hung up on at least 3 times when I refused to stay with AOL! We had to go through our bank to get the charges stopped and send a certified letter! They should have something done to them !!! Plus all the crap is on the computer.

I have a friend who works for AOL. AOL is hard up for customers, and their prices are higher than everyone else. You can go to PeoplePC or NetZero for 1/2 of what AOL charges.

When AOL first came out, they were a pioneer. They made surfing the web easy. However, now that just about everyone understands that all you really need is a connection and a computer, AOL has steadily lost market share. They are working on changing their business model .

Now, as for their customer service and not wanting you to cancel - couldn't tell you, don't know. But it wouldn't surprise me.

I was wondering why everyone seems to have had them - but doesn't seem to want them now. We never had it and I guess I'm glad we didn't.

Hard to be a profitable company when you keep giving people free service for a year. I guess those people they keep charging are paying for other's free service.

Cell phones are the same - companies work hard to get you then don't work hard to keep you.
