Are they starting to spray at night in your area?
Lately, city and county have been doing that...we hear them at mid night every week...with thier trucks spraying in our area, it hit Arizona last year.

Make sure to keep any outside toys, buckets free of water from rain and etc...
That is one of tips they suggested or u can get the city and county to come and clean your portable pool or in ground pool to be cleaned out and drained.

Good luck and be safe!!

I'm afraid the sprays are as bad as being bitten/sucked. We used to have no problems in Phoenix with mosquitoes until the powers that be decided to put in an artificial lake. We, also have the virus, and yet, they refuse to drain the lake. Desert plus stagnant water in over 100 degree heat = health hazard!!

We have it in our county, but so far we haven't had any cases in our city that I know of. It urkes me that I keep our yard free of standing water, but people around us don't worry about it as much. Everyone should work to prevent breeding grounds.

We had about 100-150 cases 3 years ago. Please remember that an infant can get the virus from it's mother via breastmilk (I know you are nursing). I was nursing then and became PARANOID about protecting my then 2 year old and myself.

Stay safe. HELLO DEET!
