This really makes me feel good about my daily commute… which involves an aged tunnel…. NOT.

Woman Killed in Boston Big Dig Tunnel Fall

The picture gave me chills. Granted, my tunnel's not that big, but ####… I've seen where trucks have hit and pulled down the ceiling tiles before, and I don't like it one bit.

What is scary about that tunnel is that it's *brand new*, part of the huge multimillion dollar 'big dig' project in Boston that has taken years and years to complete. Chunks should not be falling out! Oy! My parents live in Boston and I'm there quite a bit and have been in that tunnel many times.

That poor woman, what a horrible way to die...

Uugh. I am horrified just thinking about it. I've never been a big fan of tunnels. And I can't see how you drive through it twice a day, 5 days a week.

Central Virginia has no tunnels, you know...

I saw on late news before leaving for work that Gov. Mitt Romney is asking for the removal of the guy in charge of the Office that is responsible for the work citing he's been secretive and unwilling to share information even prior to this tragedy.
Reading the article the guy in charge says he refuses to step down
and will work together.

Is it just me?
12 ton slab seems far too big to be held by a steel strap.

Thoughts to the family of the woman who died- it was reported she was a newlywed enroute to airport to pickup family members.

Oh my gosh! I hadn't seen this! My sister lives in Melrose and her DH commutes into Boston every day! This is scary. He's a lawyer and has already told us scary stories with this project. However, as usual, I see just finger pointing and payoffs in this. What a mess!
