I beleive she should remain in the hospital for the rest of her life. What she did was unthankable! As far as the insanity claim I think she would have to be to look her children in the eye and do that to them. It just makes me mad that no one caught the warning signs and helped prevent this. I know the signs are not always there but it breaks my heart to think about this situation.

Corals Mom nothing makes it ok for someone else to do that.

No one in their sane mind would even contemplate doing such a horrible thing you would have to be out of your mind to attempt never mind carry it through.

I hate what she has done but who said she was superwoman. She wasnt. She was one very fragile lady who asked for help and never got it.

She trusted her husband and her medics, she was seriously let down, Because she was let down this happend.

If she is guilty then in my mind so is her husband, and her medical team and the same sentence should be for them,

Does anyone know why she was only charged with the deaths of 3 of the children and not all 5? *

"As in the first trial, Yates was tried only in the deaths of Mary, John and Noah. Although the district attorney could pursue charges in the deaths of Luke and Paul, prosecutor Joe Owmby said he is recommending against such a move."

This is just so sad.

I totally agree with this statement, and if she ever does "wake up" one day and realizes what she's done, it will be #### on earth for her, wherever they choose to put her.

God, help her.

Personally, I think she would welcome life hospitalized. Did you notice she was losing hair? She has a hard time functioning in society. Depression can make hospitalization sound like a relief - someone else to make the decisions, so no one can criticize yours. I wonder how she feels about the whole thing. She seems numb, no surprise. I just hope the kids are in heaven enjoying the afterlife or choosing to come back down to better parents. I wonder if he feels any guilt. He really didn't seem to in his interviews, just a pitiness for her. The one good thing in all this is that more people are taking postpartum psychosis seriously.

What I ment was because she pretty much "got off" you can guarantee that sometime in the future someone else will do the same thing and cry PPD.
She should be locked up for the rest of her life but instead she will be hospitalized until THEY think she is better. It even said that in the article.
So say THEY think she is better 3 years from now...she can go out have MORE babies and do the same thing all over again.

What does superwoman have to do with it? I didnt say she was or was not superwoman nor did I expect her to be. She killed 5 of her children and she should be punished for it not just locked up in a hospital.
I am VERY surprised that so many of you are defending her and what she did just because she had PPD.
I could understand if she drowned ONE of the kids and then thought OH MY GOD, WHAT DID I JUST DO??? but she DIDNT she proceeded to drown ALL 5 of those kids one right after another, chasing them down the hallway to grab them and MURDER them!!!!!!!

I had PPD after Colton was born and I still do, I still take meds EVERY day but I would never in a million years do that!

I think her husband should take some of the blame too because he left her alone with the kids knowing what a freak she was but why the H E L L was she NOT locked up before? Why was she NOT taking her meds???
She had to be sane somewhat because she called her husband after she killed the 5th child and told him he needed to come home.

I just dont understand how you can do something like that to your babies and then expect to get away with it.

Honey, this goes beyond PPD. This goes in to psychosis, hearing voices, seeing things, etc. There is pity on my part b/c it must be scary to be here. It angers me what happend to those poor children but I don't think she had the capacity to have the clarity of thought that would let her see that it was so heinous. That's where I see the hospitalization needs to occur. There is no is this wrong or what did I just do? Were the meds even working is a better question than was she taking them...Why did her husband continue to knock her up? Especially after she spent weeks in a catatonic state after the 4th one was born....I dont' think she expects to get away with it, I think on some level she is locked up in her own mind and can not fathom what she did or any consequence for it. She may still be seeing things and hearing voices. It was a very sick thing to do but she is a very sick person, mentally ill. It' snot exucesable by any means but for once this lady should get the assistance she needs.
