The news is so depressing, I try not to watch it, except for some times I watch the Morning Show on our local channel. They do the weather and traffic and do a lot of stories that are more "feel good". I don't want the kids to see all the horrible things that are happening, not that they shouldn't know what's going on in the world, but they are all younger than 5.
When I just feel like crying the entire news broadcast, it's time to turn the channel. Plus, most news is just sensationalized and it's their opinion, not necessarily facts. They twist things and hardly ever get it right. I know this from personal experience, when my sister was killed, it was all over the news because her husband killed her and he had just gotten home from Iraq. I had seen a couple of news stories on it and saw it in the papers and they all got everything wrong. There were little pieces of truth, but if all you did was watch the news, you didn't know the real story at all.
