YAHOO! News Story
Ok, yea, I understand that it is HORRIBLE that your kid is missing, but WHY ON GOD'S GREEN EARTH would you leave a 4 year old and 2 year old twins ALONE in a HOTEL room while you go eat?? Excuse me, but that's just asking for trouble. ARGH! Another strong argument to make it illegal to have kids without some sort of training or license. Ugh.

It's a very sad story...although I personally would not have left a 4 year old and 2 year old twins alone in a room. According to the articles I've read, the door to their room/apt was visible from the resturant and they were checking on the sleeping children frequently. I cannot image what hell these parents are going through right now, my heart goes out to them and their little girl. I hope they're able to find her.

OMG! I had heard the little girl missing- but I did not hear that she was left alone with 2- 2 year olds while her parents went to eat! I am so angry about that~I feel bad for them for missing their daughter- but angry that if they would of been "parents" to their child- she would still be here!

Oh, okay- my bad! I should keep my mouth shut until I hear the whole story! I still am upset that they actually left them alone though! I hope that they are able to find her as well!

My heart does break for the parents but this was just so, so preventable. I don't care if they could see their room from the restaurant or if they were checking every ten minutes. You don't leave two 2-year olds and a 4-year old unattended so you can go out to eat!!!! Have people just lost their freaking minds?!? Have room service, get takeout, order a pizza, have a bowl of cereal or eat at an earlier time and take your kids with you.

There have been many times on vacations where I would have loved a little quiet time with DH but you know what? We have a daughter. We are a family. If romantic dinners alone have to be put on hold for a couple of years, so be it. I can no sooner see us leaving Riley unattended so we could eat as I could see strapping her to the hood of the car to make run from DH's golf clubs in the back of the car. So yes, while I am sad for the parents, with a little common sense they could still have their daughter.

I dont care that the room was visible or that they were checking on them.....if youre that hungry there's a thing called "take out"...it works like this when you have kids...one stays and plays parent while one goes and gets food DUH!!!!!!!

This is SO disturbing. I agree that some people just shouldn't HAVE children.

Here's an article I found on the friend who thinks she actually SAW the man who took the little girl:

Family friend who saw 'Madeleine abduction' is wracked with guilt | the Daily Mail

ITA! Yes it's tragic they have lost their little girl and I hope they find her. I cannot imagine living through a hell worse than losing your child, but you don't leave a 4 year old and 2 year old alone, ever. They obviously weren't checking on them enough. If I did this I would be charged with neglect but they are off meeting the pope. Common sense is lacking in so many people that call themselves parents. I wouldn't leave my 6 year old alone in a hotel room let alone a 4 year old. Room service people-what a great concept.

just plain stupidity is what it is. anyone with an ounce of common sense doesn't leave a 4 year old in a room alone with 2 2 year olds. i just hope that whoever took her isn't abusing her.
