What is wrong with people today? I don't know how a mother can harm their children. Why didn't she ask for help? The 8 month old survived, but the others, 5,3, and 2 past away. This is heartbreaking.

How sad! This just makes me sick to my stomach. I couldn't even imagine.

This story makes me sick. Yet another depressed mother who can't take it kills her children and herself in Texas. If you hate life so much either commit yourself to a hospital or just kill yourself. What kind of a mother kills her own children? Plenty of people are depressed and seek help, they don't kill their children. I hope she rots in hell. I just picture those trusting eyes looking at her as she hangs them. I hope the baby doesn't suffer any neurological problems from lack of oxygen. I hope she finds a parent that will love her and keep her safe.

I don't get it. How can someone hurt/kill their own child? What's really sad is that these sick people exist. I know that may sound harsh and she may have been depressed...but GET HELP!! DON'T KILL YOUR KIDS!!!

DH told me about this last night. I can't believe it.
I have been severly depressed and wanted to end my own life, but never would I harm my children. I even hung on for my own girls. Got help and am now doing better.
How sick? What kind of person could do this? Absolutely terrible.

All four of those women were found innocent by reason of insanity. Yates initially was convicted of capital murder, but that verdict was overturned on appeal.
And I very well may get flamed for this but, all of these women should be locked up, sterilized and never see the light of day again. Anybody who can kill their own children doesn't deserve a life.

Depression is a very serious danger to all people.

Some cultures and Religions say it's weakness or crisis of Faith.

For some people treatment is available, for others to seek it it opens a Pandora's Box of innuendo and problems or perception.

I've been depressed before but it was mild compared to this. I've been fortunate
not to have had it severe enough to medicate but I rest easier and deal with it better knowing there are treatment options available

I wonder how many times she cried out for help or showed signs and no one paid any attention. Or if she even cried out at all.

The story is sad and becoming ALL TOO COMMON.

It is easy to get angry at this woman for what she did, there are so many better options... all I can say is she must have been drowning in her sorrows and troubles and lacked the ability to see another way. Who knows what she was going through or what led her to do such a horrible thing. It is such a sad story
