This just made me cry. I can't imagine being told you are receiving a transplant that will save your life, being prepped and moved into the operating room awaiting the new organ and then to find out a plane crash not only crushed that opportunity, but also took 6 lives. That is just tragic to me.

Tragic, prayers to the families of those killed.

It is sad I didn't know him but the pilot was from my town.

I work for an air medical transport company with mobile ICUs, helicopters and fixed wing airplanes and we do the same type of transports. The crews that fly these flights are singularly devoted and unselfishly committed to the preservation of life. Their loss leaves our collective EMS and air medical transport communities with an enormous void. We are eternally grateful to them for answering the call without hesitation. The grief of the families, friends and co-workers of Survival Flight is shared by the entire industry.
