Yes, this is an aweful thing to hear about!!! I cannot even imagine what those poor babies and mothers have to go through...
It is true that some places in China have a 1 child "rule" but it all depends on the region of China. My hubby travels there two or three times a year. He knows families in one region that only have one child, but then he goes to the next region (a farming/less populated region) where some parents have more than one with no fees at all for their extra children.
The one sad story that he had was...he went over there in October and there was a pregnant woman who worked in one of the offices of a large company he visited. He spoke with the woman who knew broken english and she said she was 7 months along. On his return trip to that company in March, he asked her how the baby was doing and she said that there were "difficulties." He later found out that she was forced to abort the child when her doctor found that the child would be born with several health problems. My hubby felt bad for her!
This article makes all of China look VERY bad (and yes, there are parts of it that absolutely are) but I do have to stick up for the good parts (YES, there are!!!). There are several different regions in China. One region is totally different from the next region, some are bad, some are very good. We have seen BOTH.
