Did anyone read about this? Woman dies in ER lobby as 911 refuses to help - More Health News - MSNBC.com It's awful! I only read it because I figured it was just someone trying to sue the hospital, state, anyone involved! I'm one of these people who figures that hospitals, 911, police, are actually there to help you! But after reading this story ... why maybe the family should sue everyone involved. It's an awful tale and I'm sadden anyone would have this as their final moments, not to mention what her family went through at the time.

I also read that news story.....and still can't believe that happened. I don't know what I would have done differently had I of been in that situation. It's just horrible.

With all of our medical knowledge, with help being right there, she dies how horribly tragic. It reminds me of a scene from the movie pay it forward. A father is in the er with his daughter having a severe asthma attack, he pleads for help she is suffering. A man tough man comes in with a gunshot sees the girl demands they help her to no avail he pulls a gun out needless to say he's arrested and she cared for the gunshot victim simply tells the man to pay it forward. A truly wonderful though somber movie

Absolutely sickening. I can't even imagine getting to an ER and them not helping. I mean, I've had to wait for up to 2 hours for a sick kid, but if they had thought they were dying, we would have been in ASAP. Glad I don't live in LA.

Unfortunately, I had a similar experience when I was on vacation in Sacramento, CA just a couple of years ago. I wasn't with my husband but he was in CA on a business trip. When I got sick I called him and asked him to meet me. He drove three hours to get to me and take me to the ER. When we got there my condition was, of course, much more serious because of the amount of time I had waited for my husband to arrive. Then they wouldn't see me. I've worked in ERs and I knew my condition was extremely serious. Thankfully, because my husband was there he was able to take me to another hospital. If I had been alone, I have no idea what I would have done. As I was with the second triage nurse, several other people from the first ER came walking (or wheeling) into the second hospital's ER.

That first ER was a nightmare. My memories of the place still cause me to physically shudder. It was like a cross between "One Flew Over the Cookoo's Nest" and "Clockwork Orange". It was seriously surreal!

I was just reading about the state of some of our hospitals, how understaffed they are, and that some patients have been forced to call 911 from their beds when their calls to nurses have been ignored.

I'm irrate about the hospital staff AND the 911 operators!!! How horrible!!! To be where you think you will get help and to call someone who is supposed to be there for help....and to die anyway. Tragic. I hope some heads roll over this!

This is just not right on SO many levels. Sounds like something my Dad would have done though.
