LOS ANGELES - Bob Barker endorsed his friend
Rosie O'Donnell as a possible successor on "The Price Is Right," although the newly retired host isn't sure CBS wants a woman to take over the game show.

"I believe they're going to have a meeting with Rosie," Barker said backstage Friday night at the Daytime Emmy Awards, where he won his 19th trophy.

"She knows the show," he said. "There's no doubt in my mind she could do the show. Now, whether they want a lady host, I don't know. I've never heard that discussed. As far as I know, they've only auditioned men."

Barker said his friendship with O'Donnell goes back several years, when she had him as a guest on her old daytime talk show.

"She told me she loved `The Price Is Right' and wanted to host it one day," he recalled.

Among those mentioned as possible replacement hosts have been Todd Newton of the E! network, Mark Steines of "Entertainment Tonight," George Hamilton and John O'Hurley.

Barker retired last week at age 83 after 35 years of giving away vacations and cars on the hit CBS game show. But he said he may be back with some specials featuring vintage clips and guests.

"If it works out, I'd like to do that," he said.

Sorry but just my opinion but didn't she leave The View to spend more time with her family? COrrect me if I am wrong but wouldn't she be going back to the same thing now with this. Just my 2 cents for what it is worth. I don't think they should let her host it.

Thats why she left her talk show too, to be with her family. Geez stay home. I normally liked Rosie but I'm getting sick of her now. I don't see her as host. I could see John O'Hurley doing it.

Plus, she doesn't like it when people lose. For some reason, I remember her giving either Regis or Kelly a hard time on her old show because they don't give their trip to someone that gives the wrong answer. If you remember her own show - when they played games, she always gave everyone a prize even if they lost. The Price is Right wouldn't be much fun if everyone won the prize whether or not they won!

Well, that will end MY viewing pleasure of watching The Price is Right. I think the network would be crazy to do it, considering the controversy around her.

Yeah, that'd be a great idea...if CBS wants the show's ratings to drop.

I think either John Hurley or George Hamilton would do a good job.

I would NEVER watch that show again if she went on it! I think that poor show would be a huge flop with her doing it... and yeah, didn't she say she wanted to stay at home with her kids more? I was jumping for joy that she was "taking a break" from TV! Who needs to see any more of her?
