This is often the case used in many cases. Not only in domestic issues. Police will make a "possible suspect" feel safe and get them to open up. If you start accusing and calling someone a "prime suspect" then they will lawyer up so fast it will make your head spin. The less cooperation you get, the longer it will take you to close a case.
