Another one. Keep in mind we are 111-114 degrees out right now.

DAD forgot baby in the car. I just don't get it. They have five kids, and I'm sure it was an accident, but I can't forget my kids in the car. They advise moms to put their purses in the back seat when putting a baby in a car seat, as we don't usually forget our purses in the car.

A reminder (hopefully you don't need it!)...

Two hours is totaly unreasonable but I will say that if it was a true accident I can see how it happens. I did forget my baby once. I had 5 kids with me and they were all misbehaveing. We came in the house with a lot of bags and one kid was trying to show my something. I forgot my baby in the car in my drive way for maybe 5 minutes. I sat down and then realized the baby wasnt with me. IT was only five minutes or less but it just seams crazy to think that even for just those few minutes I could just forget a baby. I was so upset I cried and hugged the baby and she didnt even care. She was looking at me like I was silly.

Hopefully it was an accident. He gets to live with himself the rest of his life knowing he killed his baby because he was an idiot. Every year this happens. I love the ones who comes out and blame it on "I'm tired". What parent isn't--you still don't leave your baby to die alone in a car.

I know how easy it is to get distracted, but how awful! And how did no one notice a newborn missing! It is just tragic, this happened years ago in our town. The lady a bunch of kids, 5 I believe, and her DH is a lawyer. Same thing, out running errands and forgets the sleeping toddler in the car.

And you know, I always pull my van inside, run in and take in my purse, diaper bag, load of groceries, and go back out for the baby. Especially if he is asleep. I need to STOP doing that, and get him first thing after my girls get unbuckled and out of the backseat.

Oh my... it's never even occored to me I could forget about a baby... when I have mine, just might do that purse in the backseat thing, or something :s Not that I ever really GO anywhere, but still. I'd be so unhappy if I forgot.

there should be a voice in the cars of parents that when you open the door it says is your kid in the backseat? LOOK!!! then maybe the kids wouldn't get forgotten.

How tragic. I can't even imagine what that father is going through. It sounds like the neighbors are backing him. Unfortunately, accidents happen. This is a horrible, horrible accident, but I can't imagine being hateful towards the father. There is nothing anybody can say to him that he hasn't said to himself, or that could make him feel worse than he probably does. I pray for their family.
