A guy in my town was playing softball and lost a finger going for a ball! He jumped up to grab it and a metal fence top got caught on his wedding ring and tore his finger off!!!
Wow I never thought of that as a way to get hurt.

I just read that... My dh is a farmer and doesn't wear his ring.. I would rather have his fingers attached than his ring on.. He's working who's going to see it or care anyway..

When I worked in restaurants one of our cooks was cleaning the vent hoods above the fryers and his wedding band got caught. He didn't lose his finger, but his weight was pulling him down and the ring was pushing his skin along as it slid!

That was not a pretty sight. The poor guy was green the whole way to the hospital.

Everything turned out allright though with some stitches and a big bandage.

DH is a welder and sometimes works with other big machinery. His last job required that they take off all rings and watches, because of some of the things they were working around.

I knew softball could be dangerous. DH broke his foot sliding into 2nd. Ended up having to get a plate with screws and pins, but losing a finger? That's crazy.

The good thing is the company that he works for is offering to pay for the installation and materials to put foam tubing along the top of the fence at our city park so this does not happen again. His company also is willing to pay for anything not covered by insurance even though they are not responsible for it. That reminds me what a nice group of people live in our area

The most hazardous thing about dh's job is the commute and elevator ride. However, Mr. Weekend Warrior was wearing his ring a few years back while playing football w/the guys and the ball hit his finger just right so it sprained it. It started turning purple within hours and by morning was horribly swollen. Finally, after two days of ice, he still refused to see the Dr., but on the way to work one morning (we were together in the car), he started losing feeling in his hand and arm. We had to stop at a firestation. An EMT was there and they had to cut his ring off.

It can happen to anyone! By the way, he made sure to let the guys at the firehouse know that he did catch that pass. Men.

Yup those rings can be dangerous. My husband got his whole hand caught in an industrial lawnmower because of his ring and almost lost two fingers because of it. He had to have surgery to have them put back on and had pins and screws and rods in his hand for about 3 months. Now he jokes he always knew that ring was gonna cost him dearly one day!
