Poor kid. The humiliation just got the better of him. People can be SO cruel.

I wonder if the referance to him being "that kid" had more to do with his being Mexican-American, or his being the victim. In the article it stated the attackers shouted racial slurs during the attack.

It's all just sickening to me.

Oh my!! I hadn't heard of that case, but have heard of cases like that.. He survied a 4 hour assult, multiple surgeries ect... What a sad world we live in... Kids are cruel.. Names hurt and they are usually said by those that are hurting the most...

this just really makes you think about news coverage also.....and the fact that it has the ability to compound a persons tragedy.I can't even wrap my brain around what this poor kid had to live with.

But the weight of knowing that the whole world knows what was done to you....I can't even imagine that.How could you ever move past that.

We read all these stories of horrible things happening to people yet never realize the extra burden that places on that person.

For me,it just made me realize that there may very well be too much info put about victims cases.

"Hate Crimes" for me,and granted as well as for most people,are one of my buttons.Hate crimes stem from sheer ignorance.The ignorance of hating a person for where they were born or from whom....as though any of us ever had a choice.

The people who did this to him should be charged with murder...it was their actions that drove him to it.
