Sorry, but you can't convince me men don't have mood swings. I swear mine gets PMS, too, although in no way would I ever think him capable of running a country, when he can't even run a household!

There have been and are good female presidents of other countries. I wish my mind wasn't drawing a blank and listing only Corazon Aquino. But there are others. I was surprised at some male-dominant countries having female presidents.

I don't think sex should play into it (Bill Clinton had plenty of it as President ). Competency and track record.

I am so astounded at some of these posts, I can't even respond!

Oh wait....yes I can. Mood swings? Hot flashes? I thought we were FINALLY done with these stereotypes!

And thinking of myself, my friends, my family...these women would make a fabulous president - ovaries and all!!!!!

I don't think mood swings or hot flashes are stereotypes. A stereotype is something that is not true but is attributed to be true. Women do get mood swings and hot flashes.

I'm not saying in any way that women are inferior. I also pointed out that women make much better diplomats than men, inho. Men don't have the compassion gene that women have.

I think men and women are just wired differently. We each have our strengths and our weaknesses. Thats all.

The stereotype is that a woman president may start a war because she suffers from mood swings or hot flashes. SOME women may have mood swings, some women may not. But, no woman would start a war because she has one! Just because some women may have mood swings, doesn't mean a woman shouldn't be president.

Each person has his or her own strengths and weaknesses based on who they are, NOT based on what gender they are. You can't generalize about a person based on their gender. My dh cries easier than I do. He also has mood swings. My boss is the moodiest person I know - and he is a man. The strongest people I know are mostly women. They can handle a lot more than most men can handle.

Each person should be evaluated based on who they are - not what gender they are and what stereotypes are ascribed to that gender.

I didn't say that any man should be president. I just said that their strengths are better suited. I don't think women are inferior at all. It probably sounded that way. But I do think women and men have very different strengths.

However, I came back to this thread after doing a bit of thinking and realizing that there have been some women in positions of power that were very good, such as Margaret Thatcher. Initially, I errored in not considering women from long ago.

Concevably, a woman could make a good president. However, of all women in politics in recent years, I would say none are qualilfied. Hillary Clinton, Nancy Peolisi, Barbara Boxer...they all come off PMS-y at best. The only political woman I can think of who has at all impressed me is Condoleeza Rice, and I believe that she has made many horrible errors.

As for the women I've known in my personal experience, there have been none that I would ever consider for president, because yes, they are all emotional. And just to speak to my own state of mind here, I know that when I'm all hormonal, I am quick to get fed up with my toddler. Days that I'm not hormonal, he can get away with murder. But at that time of the month, you would think World War III was breaking out in our livingroom. Can you imagine if I had that kind of power? Lol. We'd all be doomed.
