I think it really depends on the woman. She has to be many things to me. I know, as a woman, we can handle many things in our lives and multi-task like no other...but to actually run a country?? I don't know. I don't know if it is whether or not I would be ready for a woman president or the fact that I'm just not confidant that a woman can handle the 4 year term without getting emotionally involved somehow or in some aspect of the job.

Now - on the other hand - I would LOVE to see a woman president within my life-time...I just don't know if I'm ready for it just yet!!

Yes, as long as it's the right woman.

I'm totally ready for a woman. Many countries (England, India, etc) have had quite successful female leaders. But I wouldn't vote for a woman JUST BECAUSE she was a woman. I would use the same criteria to evaluate whether to vote on her that I always use. So ready, but it's got to be the right one.

Only if it is the right woman, which I don't think we have one yet.

I hate to see stereotyping like this about women...or really anyone. What makes you think that women, in general, can't handle a 4 year term without getting "emotionally involved"? Actually, what makes you think male presidents don't get emotionally involved? It is very disheartening to me to see such generalizations being held about women, especially when they result in someone questioning whether a woman can handle being president.

I have to say that I am a more old fashioned woman. I think that for some women working outside the home (as well as taking care of the home) is great, but for others -including myself- it is better to stay home and take care of the family only. But as far as a woman president. No I am not at all ready for that. The way I see it is God made the man to be the head of the house hold and that should include a man being the head of the government. Now, if there was a Godly woman running and the man running opposite her was not Godly and had bad morals, then I would be better with it. That is how I feel about it. n my soapbox:
