DH drove over that bridge about an hour before it happened. They say cell phone service is out in the area. The Twins game went on as planned because they didn't want to send 20,000 plus people back out onto the roads to complicate the situation.

I hope your family is safe!

I just heard about this! What a horrible, horrible accident. I pray for all of the families involved. Words can't even say how this makes me feel.

Have you heard anything? The phone lines are terrible still so hopefully that is the problem.

What a horrible event. Hopefully they will continue to rescue people but I fear many, many people are in the water. There is only one friend of mine that uses that road to head home from work but she is on maternity leave.

35 splits into 35W and 35E around the Twin Cities and it was 35W that fell. People that were leaving Minneapolis would be those heading more north and generally live more on the west side of the cities. Obviously those headed into Minneapolis from that direction would also be affected.

Just got a call from some family friends that were meeting my BIL and his family at the Twins game...my BIL and family never got to the game. I am wondering now if they were just stranded somewhere or BIL decided to help out. We still know nothing.

I bet that they are stuck in a lot of traffic and can not contact anybody because of cell phone service. Will be praying for your bil.ray: Please keep us posted when you find out anything.

That's so sad and scary. My 14 yr old dd is scared to death when we cross bridges. I guess she better not see this.

From what I have heard tonight; cell phone service is all jammed in that area. They are asking the rest of us in MN to not use our phones if we don't have to so that the lines are as clear as possible.

I am not far from the tragic site; and as of yet I have not heard of anyone I know being on that bridge- but my DH drove across it twice earlier today. My thoughts and prayers are with everyone involved and their families. I hope to learn more tomorrow; I work for a sturctural engineering firm; so you know the phones will be crazy tomorrow.

Saying a prayer for all my fellow MN mommy's.

MN Mom
