I agree. We need these workers. In our area they reduced the number of legal guest workers that can come to the US so many of the orchards and farms had to dump part of their crops. They tried US workers and even temp people from the unemployment office and most people quit before their day was done boo hooing about the hard work.

I didn't post the request, but I would think that referring to someone as an illegal, as a name, is insulting. He's a person who is here illegally. I'm just guessing though, so correct me if I'm wrong.

Here's my thought on this one. I mean just be realistic how many "Americans" out there really that would like to take jobs that these people normally get? Low paying jobs, no or very little benifits, hard labor etc... I've seen a lot of people that would rather get into high paying jobs (not that there is something wrong with that) but yes I agree that in some sense eventhough they are undocumented workers who doesn't file any taxes they are still needed in the society. Its a big achievement for a person to save $59,000 yet he was wrong for not filing any taxes and for being in the states illegally. In reality though businesses need this kind of people to work for them.

That's what I had meant. I don't think there's a good reason not to just say illegal immigrants instead. I wouldn't start calling people "whites" or "blacks," even if the descriptions happen to be true. It would simply insult the people I'm referring to.

They do happen to be in this country illegally but that does not strip them of their own dignity or humanity. I think we should all treat others with respect when possible. I knowits difficult when you feel strongly about something or what a certain group of people might be doing. I'm only asking you to think about how you say the word "illegals" and whether or not you think someone else, maybe the child of an illegal immigrant, might feel hearing it put that way. If you still think it's fine then I won't say anymore on the subject. It would be pointless.

I dont have any problem calling them illegals because they are here ILLEGALLY......it is not the same as saying black or white, or mexican, asian whatever because they chose to be here illegally peoples race is not chosen also why should i have to be politically correct to someone who is breaking the law......i mean if we cant call them illegals then we might as well stop calling people who steal thiefs, or even people who kill, murderers. cause that is bad......sorry dont buy it. and as far as the jobs go, I think the companies that are employing these illegals need to suffer some consequences, if they would pay minimum wage and have some sort of benefits, then people who legally are here would work for them, there are plenty of legal immigrants and americans that are still willing to do the labor. If there are no jobs for illegals they will have a harder time living here and be forced to take the steps needed for legalization
