That's what I had meant. I don't think there's a good reason not to just say illegal immigrants instead. I wouldn't start calling people "whites" or "blacks," even if the descriptions happen to be true. It would simply insult the people I'm referring to.
They do happen to be in this country illegally but that does not strip them of their own dignity or humanity. I think we should all treat others with respect when possible. I knowits difficult when you feel strongly about something or what a certain group of people might be doing. I'm only asking you to think about how you say the word "illegals" and whether or not you think someone else, maybe the child of an illegal immigrant, might feel hearing it put that way. If you still think it's fine then I won't say anymore on the subject. It would be pointless.
