from msnbc:
CLEVELAND - A gunman opened fire in a downtown high school on Wednesday, and five people were taken to a hospital, the mayor said.

The suspected shooter, a 14-year-old boy, apparently killed himself after the rampage, police said.

The student identified as the shooter by students at the school had been suspended Monday for fighting, said Charles Blackwell, president of SuccessTech's student-parent organization. School officials said the suspect was not supposed to be at school that day.
Mayor Frank Jackson and hospital officials said David Kachadourian, a 57-year-old teacher, and a 42-year-old man were in stable condition; Darnell Rodgers, a 17-year-old boy, has been treated for a gunshot wound in the elbow and will soon be released; and a 14-year-old boy, who was shot in the side, appears stable. A 14-year-old girl was also treated for an injured elbow.

Rodgers told reporters that he wasn't sure if he knew the attacker. "I'm scared," Rodgers said after he was released from the MetroHealth Center. "I'm worried about my other classmates and teachers."

Four victims were taken to MetroHealth Center, WKYC-TV reported. One shooting victim was taken to Rainbow Babies and Children's Hospital, WOIO-TV reported.

The school's security guard was on vacation, WKYC reported, and two other full-time security guards had been laid off in recent years.

I feel for this school and community. Our town has never really been the same since our shooting. It still sits at the back of my mind every day. They will be in my thoughts and prayers.

The good news of the 4 that were shot 2 have been released from the hospital 1 is in fair condition and the other is stable. Horrible that a 14 yr old child did this.
According to the neighbors the police were at the shooters home 2 days prior to this happening but the police were there for other people in his home. Sad Sad Sad. They also say the boy always seemed angry. At the age of 14 he already had a long juvinelle record

I am just happy no one died and that the police officers are safe. My BIL is a Commander for the Cleveland Police Department and I believe that is the area he manages.

Well...the shooter died. He shot himself. But maybe you were saying that you're glad that nobody else died?

It's really very sad but scary too. There are plenty of people with all kinds of hardships and they don't go and shoot people. I feel sad for all the families involved in this terrible situation.
