WaterWired: Bill Richardson: Wisconsin Water Wends Westward?
I know what side I am on in this one. I think that it's about time more people are aware of what is proposed and what's at stake. This is not the first time this has been brought up. A few years ago I think it was Japan wanted us to tap into the Great Lakes for water too. As it states in the article that the Great Lakes are at record lows too, and it's impacting our environment termendously. I know that I'm heated about this so I will refrain from commenting right now. The western states need to realize too how this will effect our environment, economy, and lives.

I'm on the fence on this one right now without really knowing everything that would happen as far as regulations go. I live in Michigan and the lakes are not doing well without the proper policing that needs to be going on here as far as illegal dumping and not inspecting barges and cargo being imported from other waters that are bringing in foreign sea life.

There are several feet of sludge in many of our lakes and as stated the water has receded to record lows. Michigan is in a major financial crisis and could use the help in cleaning things up. Like I said, I really don't know how I feel. All I know is I am disgusted with the conditions as they are now.
