Just wondering if anyone else is following the Dru Sjodin/Alfonso Rodriguez case? I'm not sure if it's more local or if it's a national case.

Just curious to see what others think!!

I am, but then it is local news here too (not quit as local as to you, though) I guess they have to see if he can be convicted on the federal level of kidnapping in order to qualify for the death penalty. If he is only convicted on the state level, it will be life imprisonment.

Yea, this is a huge case for us here. Alfonso is from Crookston, the town that i work in. They found Dru about 4 miles from where i work. And they actually found her shoe under a bridge that is right behind my office.

It will be interesting to see if he gets the death penalty.

I haven't heard about the case .... then again I'm in CA. So what's going on?

Dru Sjodin was a 22 yr. old girl that went to college at UND (Grand Forks). On November 22, 2003 she was kidnapped from the mall in Grand Forks. She was on her cell phone talking to her boyfriend at the time. He said all he heard was "ok, ok, ok" and then the phone went dead. They arrested Alfonso a couple days later. He was in GF that day but his story just wasn't right. He said he went to a movie but the movie he said he went to wasn't even playing. They found a knife in his car. They found the knife holder (can't think of the correct term for it right now) next to Dru's car. They also found blood spots in his car that matched Dru's DNA. If you google Dru Sjodin and it will bring up many articles about her and the case.

I'm just glad he is locked up and not walking the streets around here.

I've been following the case very closely. They've had updates in the Fargo Forum everyday. I guess the jury has the case now...so we'll see. He's obviously guilty, but who knows what his sentence will be.
