As a homeschooling parent I would like to say a few things.
First off I should say that homeschooling can be a wonderful blessing when it's done for the RIGHT reasons! Homeschooling to avoid the possible dangers in life is not a good reason-certainly it's a benefit, but not a reason you should homeschool. I'm not one that believes in sheltering, protecting yes, but you can't raise your kid sheltered to the world or they won't relate well as an adult.
Sexual abuse is mostly within a family, rare in schools. School violence is much more prevalent than cases of sexual abuse. Those are just two problems with school systems, there are many more-most issues much worse and more common.
I very strongly believe in homeschooling for many many reasons combined and it's a wonderful fit for our family and I hope to continue to do it until they go off to college. If it is something you would like to consider start reading and researching, you have plenty of time to make a decision as a family.
