I'm worried about it. No matter how much hand-washing young kids do, they still touch their mouth, nose, and eyes without thinking. I hate the thought of all the stuff my children are exposed to on a daily basis.

Yes, our elementary school was the first elementary school in the area to get it after 2 of the high schools (We're Charlotte too Karen!). I am not happy with how the school dealt with it (we found out when we went to pick the kids up from school and we met by 3 differnt news teams...nice way to find out ) But DH and I are aware of MRSA and what to look for (an acquaitance of ours was badly affected by it), and our pediatrician has made sure we are informed regarding it (Luckily the kids had Dr's appointments (for something else) that week so we could sit down and talk to her about it ).

I am a pediatric nurse in a hospital and honestly we see at least one case of it a week in pediatrics ever since I have worked there and that is almost 7 years! The amount of adults who have it in our hospital is much more. Last week I think we had 4 on just one of the adult floors on one particular day.

Most of us do have MRSA in our bodies, it colonizes in our noses so I bet if we cultured all our noses a bunch of us have it. It just depends on when it comes out. It can be a pimple, or boil or incision that gets infected. Good handwashing is the best way to decrease the spread. You don't need antibacterial soap , just plain soap and warm water. sing the abc's and you're done. Most hand sanitizers will not remove mrsa so soap and water is best.

my niece had it several times last year she has alot of medical issues and severe eczema wich is how hers gets started. you just have to know the signs keep your houses clean and keeps hands washed that is key. don't forget things like your door handles this time of year we spray them down every night with anit bacterial spray. its been around for along time. my niece spends usually a week in the hospital with it because she has alot of allergies and can't take alot of antibiotics... just keep those hands washed and surfaces clean that will help.
