Well first if you have ever seen Thomas Friedman or read anything by him, you already know he's very politically biased. He's a frequent "talking head" on the political show circuit. The other thing is I can't understand his reasoning. Even if we added $1 tax to gasoline and sent it to our treasury, how does that keep the oil prices down??? The other countries will still charge us the same amount for the gasoline, they wouldn't care we're taxing extra on it. So it would just cost us $1 more per gallon than it already does. Or did I miss something in the article???
