I don't leave my kids in the car alone -- but even I don't think this woman did anything wrong.

Its hard to believe that you can get arrested for that. That being said, I wonder if she really was parked where she said she had. There are always two sides and I am truly hoping that it was an over zealous police officer and not a negligent mother. I work with all ages of kids and nothing shocks me anymore what some Moms will do or not do.

Saw on the news that there are witnesses to back up the mother's version. I hope so as if she was really there next to the car then she did nothing wrong.

I don't think she did anything wrong either - leaving your kid in a heated, locked, alarmed car for 3 minutes when you're standing 30 feet away just doesn't sound neglectful to me. It gets to me that they're going after this lady so fiercely when most of the time they don't do anything to the parents that leave their young babies alone in parking lots in the middle of summer while they go shopping for hours at a time...

As long as the car was still within her sight and she could get to it quickly if needed, she did nothing wrong.

I agree that if she could see the car and the child was locked inside it was fine. I guess my only question is if she was looking at the car why didn't she see the policeman approaching it?

Good question pam. Now my question....Say you are at the grocery store. You put your child or children in the car and unload your groceries in to the trunk and you go and put the cart up is that illegal too?
