Did third-graders plot teacher attack? - Crime & courts - MSNBC.com

Seriously what is wrong with these kids? I actually read about this yesterday but haven't seen any mention on here -- kind of surprised. This makes me ill.

And God forbid a teacher discipline a student. There was a teacher in Fargo, ND that was fired cause she tapped a student on the head to snap him out of daydreaming.
My brother and SIL are teachers and the stories they tell me are crazy. I could never be a teacher - i would probably be fired the 1st day!!!

That is sad!! Teachers and other students need to feel safe!! not needing to worry about kids hurting a teacher or other students!! Im so glad they got caught before anything could actually happen!! but it still has to make a person feel unsafe!!

I am a high school teacher and it is difficult and unsafe. I have not felt safe in a long time at my school. I have been punched in the face, cussed at, had desks thrown at me, and my house has been vandalized. I teach science and that is just the way the kids are. I've resigned but have to finish the year out. I think the biggest problems are that we have an instant gratification society in which the kids don't have to work for anything, it's all given to them, and that parents aren't involved in their kids lives enough.

This scares me, since my plan is to teach 3rd grade after I finish my student teaching next year. How could kids this age even come up with something like this? There wasn't a lot of info on the report yet, but are the kids saying they were mad at the teacher for a reason, or was it maybe something they saw on tv? Just crazy! Makes me want to start homeschooling or something, just to keep my kids out of that kind of environment.

I read in another article that they were upset with the teacher because she (I think it was a she) had told one of them to stop standing in a chair. I'm not sure how reliable that source was.

Outside of the fact the kids were even thinking of doing this was how well organized they were! In some ways that frightens me the most. You know, before having children my husband and I always said that we wouldn't home school -- we've started rethinking that. We always felt that children might as well get use to what is out there in the "real world" but this isn't the type of thing that I ever want my children to experience in the real world or any place else.

I don't know. I just feel horrible for that teacher and cannot imagine how she (again, I believe it was a female teacher) must feel. I wonder what she will be doing come next fall?

Wow. That is sad that you have to deal with this. I can't imagine.

This is another reason we are scraping together to send our girls to private school. We are not in a good public school area.

My question is where are the parents of these lovely 3rd graders? This story is so disturbing to me.

Crazy, crazy, crazy. Makes me glad I didn't go to school to be a teacher.
