Now this could prove VERY tempting!

Obama: I'd hire Gore - Yahoo! News

Any thoughts?

I don't like Al Gore but don't have a problem with Obama giving him a Cabinet position if he's elected. But I would have a problem with him asking him to be his Vice Presidential candidate. Not that Gore would want it again.

And I do have a problem with Obama trying to get Gore's endorsement this way as well.

You are presuming he is trying to get Gore's endorsement. As far as we know, they could have spoken privately and he might already have Gore's backing 100%. Gore is very popular with many democrats, he's a brilliant man. I don't know that he'd want to be VP again, but there are many roles he could fill.

You don't know that Gore has given Obama 100% backing. I'm sure they've talked privately but I still believe that all politicians use public speeches to try and "win" the approval and support of other influential politicians. Considering Gore hasn't publicly endorsed either candidate, I'm sure it's safe to presume that he hasn't given his backing to either privately either.

I didn't say I did. I said "as far as we know." That means we don't know what has been said between them. I just think the comment that Obama is doing something just to gain Gore's endorsement is negative. Every action someone makes, someone else assumes the worst.

Well now it sounds like Carter has pretty much backed Obama as well.
