Suspects in video beating could get life in prison - CNN.com

They lured her to the house, beat her up and videotaped it to put on the internet. Do you think they should be tried as adults? Do you think their sentences if convicted are too harsh? Do you think it will deter other idiots from beating each other up and filming it for the internet?

I think the most aggressive attackers....the leaders....should be tried as adults. If they are not where will these they be in five or ten years? They will be the ones committing violent crimes.

Wow...life in prison? Dear God! What they all did was preposterous and they definitely need to have a tough punishment, however, life in jail shouldn't be an option. IMO. This incident will hopefully awaken the youth of America and get them to realize that for every action there's a reaction.

I agree....life in prison seems harsh. I watched the video, and I feel sorry for the girl, but that is just excessive.

This was a premeditated act. It included holding her captive for a length of time and repeatedly beating her leaving her with various injuries. Yes, when you add up the time possible to serve - it could be life. I do think that they should serve a LONG time. Life? Probably not. Long time? YES. If it was my daughter....

And the 14 year old probably should be tried as a juvenile

Premeditated acts make such a difference. I say lock them in a room with the girl's father for 5 minutes. (I considered saying the girl's mother, but they'd never make it out alive!)

It's the kidnapping charge that is lengthening it out. They won't get life - it will be a first time offender thing. Horrible what they did, but not as bad as teens who decapitated a guy over here. That's what our news is carrying now - the teen decapitation trial and the Detroit Mayor's ongoing drama...

They do need a good punishment, but I think life in prison would be a little much for the crime. I agree that it was awful what they did, but definitely not deserving of LIFE in prison!

While it might seem harsh to some, it is going to take something like that to make people think before they do something this stupid.

Honestly, I think that kids today have to much techniolgy at their disposable.

Think about it, they can beat somebody up and post it on the internet. They can take their cell phones make pictures and post it on the internet.

They can get on myspace or facebook and talk to preverts and child molsters and most of the time their parents don't know, because it keeps the kids out of the parents hair.

And who is buying all of this latest and greatest technoligy, the parents to keep the kids busy and happy.

And in most cases a kid is tryied in junville court it is off their record at age 18. If more kids were tried as adults and it stayed on their record they would think twice before doing some of this stuff.

OK now I am getting off of my "soap box"
