I live in the market for that news station. It was their breaking news the other night. It was absolutely HORRIFYING! I couldn't believe they were showing this at 5pm news. I almost cried- I was so upset for that child and so angry at the idiots who did this. I still see those images of that child and am saddened and sick that there are people in this world who would do that. The "adults" who did this to that child were not even adults, they are 18 and 16. It is sickening.
On a side note, I was also very upset with how the showing of the video was handled. The news showed the entire video sequence of the girl inhaling, coughing, shaking her head and saying no,no. They showed this at the top of the newscast right after their graphics for their introduction. There was no warning as to the graphic nature of this footage, or that these images were inappropriate for some audiences. I immediately emailed the station manager, news director and the on air personalities about this and wanted to know what they were thinking. For pete sakes, children could be watching at this time period. I know they showed the video for it's shock value but that is ridiculious. You have a professional in the law enforcement force that says it is the most disturbing video he has ever seen and you choose to show it on the 5 pm news without any warning to viewers. I see that CNN has it on their website today as a video, but you don't have to look at it unless you want to. Maybe I am wrong but the handling of the situation was wrong too.
I don't know what this world is coming to.
