I am not a drinker either but I have gone through the section I have drank socially\occasionally. Education does not equal common sense. Common sense is like street smarts learned from those around you and environment. Plus doesn't he work at a college? You tell me his students have never had hard lemonade or talked about it? Anyway the point is it was an honest mistake on the dad's part and it shouldn't have gone that far.

Mike's doesn't clearly say "alcoholic" on the label, at least 7 years ago when I was drinking them at a party I didn't realize they were alcoholic either. Sorry for my ignorance but I'm not a drinker. I'm sure the dad just ordered a lemonaide and handed it to his son, probably didn't even look at it let alone read the label. Poor guy, I feel sorry for this dad!

That is exactly what I was thinking as well.
There are so many cases where they just shrug the situation and get to it when they can.
I mean honestly.... If this man really wanted to give his son an alcholic beverage, do you think he would do it in public, much less a ball game???

Oh good gracious! I wonder how many kids were actually beaten, abused or neglected while CPS was persuing this "awful" father.

Just for clarification there is always a warning tag on all alcoholic beverages. There has to be by law. It says something like drink responsibly and that pregnant women shouldn't drink it is a government\surgeon general's warning. I believe it was an honest mistake he probably didn't even think they would be serving alcohol. For him to say he didn't know it was alcoholic, he probably didn't at the time know but I bet he does now and will probably pay attention next time.
This is what the labels usually say Government Warning 1) ACCORDING TO THE SURGEON GENERAL, WOMEN SHOULD NOT DRINK ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES DURING PREGNANCY BECAUSE OF THE RISK OF BIRTH DEFECTS. (2) CONSUMPTION OF ALCOHOL BEVARAGES IMPAIRS YOUR ABILITY TO DRIVE A CAR OR OPERATE MACHINERY, AND MAY CAUSE HEALTH PROBLEMS.
so yes it does say so on the label and has to by law.

Amber, all we're saying is that if a guy orders a lemonade for his kid, maybe ordering something for himself & some food, the servers hand him the stuff, he probably hands the lemonade right to the kid to hold. Those labels are microscopic. The fact of the matter is that a guy who orders lemonade for his kid is NOT going to think to check the label to see if it's alcoholic. He didn't order alcohol. There are so many bizarre brands of drinks out there - seems like there is always some new brand or some new bottling/packaging - I can totally see how he would just figure that's the brand the ballpark carries and not think twice about it.

All I am saying is that the label is on there and it isn't microscopic because I just look at DH's bottle and I could see it fine with or without my glasses. The point is that I understand how it could be overlooked and I don't fault the guy and think that the whole thing was ridiculous and blown out of proportion. Parents make mistakes all the time and it doesn't define whether he is a good parent or not. He obviously just made a bad judgement call, although the person gave him the wrong order it was his responsibility as a parent to pay attention to what his child was drinking or eating. All I am saying is that this should be a lesson to everyone to always double check what you are giving your child. His kid could have gotten alcohol poisoning. Now I don't think he should have had CPS on his tail or been in jail but it is a lesson I am sure he will not forget and he will double check things in the future. Why is everyone so passionate about it none of you know this guy. We are talking about a server that probably is making 6 dollars an hour compared to a professor who is making who knows how much and you expect a server to be the one responsible. When we go to the doctor's office do we just hope the doctor doesn't give us the wrong prescription or do we ask questions and make sure that it won't harm us. I just think we all should make sure that we are given the right stuff anywhere. People make mistakes and will give you the wrong stuff time and again. If you are allergic to nuts and eat at a restaurant you might want to double check that there isn't any in your food.
