Check it out - CPS removed a child from the parents because, at a ballgame, the dad ordered the son a lemonade & the vendor gave him a Mike's Hard Lemonade. The dad had never heard of the product & didn't know it had alcohol in it.

That's terrible! And also...why didn't someone in the crowd ask the guy what he was doing giving his kid alcohol?

Although the dad might have lacked common sense, If something is called hard lemonade you should know it is alcohol. I don't see very many commerials on it in the first place they have it in the liquor sections even at Walmart. I think the whole thing is ridiculous and goes to show why the U.S. is in economic turmoil because we spent money on stupidity and ignorance. It seemed clear that it was an honest mistake on the dad's part and if you ask for lemonade the person should have asked if he wanted liquor or not.

with all respect..
I sorta disagree with that part. If you aren't a drinker, you may not go thru the liquor section.... I didn't realize 'hard' meant alcoholic beverage..
i GET the corrolation NOW, but had never put it together. And I am intelligent, well educated and drink socially, occasionally,,, so, I personally don't think he had to be 'lacking' in anyway to not know about an alcoholic beverage

I would imagine he might have handed it over w/o even looking at the label. Let's say he orders himself a beer, a lemonade for his son, and some nachos. It's obvious what the beer is - he probably just handed his kid the bottle w/o even looking at the label. And if he's not the one who does shopping or doesn't ordinarily go to the liquor section, he might not have made the "hard" correlation either. I just think it's ridiculous that it went that far.

another good point calimari! even if he did put 'hard' and liquor together, he may not have really looked at it

There are sooooo many people abusing children in SOOOOO many ways and no one is stepping in to help those children,, then a probably perfectly well cared for child gets snatched because of a MISTAKE,, not even their own but someone ELSE'S mistake grrrrrr

He made a mistake -- actually I could see it happening. The police / CPS were called in -- I can even see that happening. But I don't understand why it went so far. I don't understand, at they very least, why they wouldn't give the kid over to his aunts, one of them was a licensed foster parent herself. That little boy went a day and a half without speaking to anyone in his family. It doesn't make sense.

I bet the dad starts reading all the labels from now on.

there is an actual pic of the 'menu' and it doesn't even say the word hard in it

yet ANOTHER reason for not 'realizing' it was alcoholic

gosh!! i'm just BESIDE myself irratated about this whole thing!! what suffering for NOTHING and yet NOTHING being done for so many who truly NEED protection

WOW! I cannot believe that.

I was actually afraid I would get in trouble today because I left my shopping cart at the door and ran my 2 yo old to the car (I was the car next to the handicap spot). I ran back to get my cart and then loaded my groceries. I was more than 8ft from the car! It was pouring down rain. Call CPS on me!!
