Poll: Terrorism fears are fading - CNN.com

Have we become complacent about terrorism or is it that we have so many other things to worry about now?

I think most people are so focused on the economy and their problems right now, so it doesn't seem as important to them. It still is on my mind all the time, living so close to D.C. I'm always worrying and waiting for something to happen and I'll be stuck here b/c the freeways will be too crowded to get out in time. Or since my dh works there alot, I worry his building will get bombed, something like that. I don't think I would worry about it at all if I lived elsewhere in the country. but being here, knowing how many attacks are prevented on a daily basis, my dh being vulnerable, just really freaks me out!

I hope if it the fears are fading it's because people have decided not to be held hostage by being forced to live their lives in fear.

I think Americans need to be thinking about terrorism. I do believe that the economy has many people thinking about that instead. I think they are both of importance.

Sometimes, I think terroism is a myth and our own government should be feared. I think it is more dangerous than what anyone else could do to us. They have more power to take away our freedoms and way of life more than any terroist does.

Terrorism due to religious fanaticism will only get worse, IMO. It's not the kind of thing you can have a war against unless you are willing to bomb all the muslims, and no one wants to do that. I see no point in worrying about something that is not going to be fixed in my lifetime. I have a greater chance of being killed in a car accident.

Tell that to all the people who have been killed by terrorists. This statement is so outlandish I don't even know what to say.

Terrorism scares me and I have a healthy fear of it. My Dh gets on a plane several times...every week. It's scary. I think it's only human nature to 'forget' about awful things, like 911...and the longer we go without another attack, I think the more people 'forget'. I wish we had MORE restrictions in place at our borders, and in our airports. The policies that were implemented seem to be band-aids at best. It's scary.

Amber03 Do you think you would have the nerve to say that to all the people who lost loved ones on 9/11?
