I'm sort of amazed by what you saw. I saw Biden as being EXTREMELY patient and trying not to lose his cool while in a debate against someone who clearly didn't know what she was talking about. He could have attacked her - he didn't. He kept his attacks to McCain. He didn't correct her errors. I'd much rather have Biden as president than Palin. I do not understand how ANYONE - left or right - can support Palin. I can understand supporting McCain, but I think his choice of VP is embarassing and shows questionable judgment. Biden didn't do or say anything disrespectful or condescending in that debate, so I just don't understand what you saw in there.

IMO, I think ALL of them are guilty of the sly looks, head shakes, and smirks. I noticed this in the first presidential debate. McCain and Obama were both poker-faced, then Obama smirked, then McCain did a facial expression, and so forth. Like someone said upthread, it's got to be hard to stand there and listen to someone distort the truth. I applaud all of them for not going Jerry Springer on us.

I THOROUGHLY agree with this....I cannot for the life of me figure out why anyone would even consider voting for Obama.I agree with the critics who say this man is DANGEROUS.

I still think Tina Fey on Saturday Night Live "ROCKS" as Sara Palin

In fact Sara Palin should pay Tina Fey to fill in for her if they ever have another debate

I so, so agree with this statement. It's disgusting the way Palin's opponents seem to think it's acceptable to treat her like this. I want a person in the Vice Presidency who is going to behave with decorum and courtesy regardless of his personal opinions of whomever he is speaking with/to. Do we want him smirking and harumphing in a meeting with a head of state? If he can't behave himself in front of a television audience of millions, what's he going to do behind closed doors with other world leaders?

This must be something where people on either side see what they want to see. I remember all the way through thinking he was being far to nice and ingratiating towards her. As far as "reaction shots" go - it is pretty standard practice in a debate for the other person to shake their heads, or use other visual cues to indicate that they disagree or think the other person is full of it. That's pretty normal and part of "the show." But I thought Biden was the epitome of "decorum and courtesy". I'd be much more worried about what Palin would do behind closed doors with other heads of state. She's been very good at publicly disagreeing with McCain on many things so far, and I would imagine that's not good for his campaign.

I took Biden's grins and chuckles as being sexist. It was like he was letting Palin have her say and get it out of her system, as she's only a woman and not his equal and therefore not worth his time to dispute or even address. Never remember seeing him do this to any man he was debating. But maybe I just missed those times.

I did think he was grinning too much, but I never considered it sexist. I did think that he probably thought that he couldn't believe that he would be put in such a position as to have to debate someone with so little experience and knowledge of the issues. I felt sorry for him because I believe he felt that he had to hold back so that he wouldn't be accused of pummelling her. At least that is how I read it.

Heh, don't worry I'm sure she'll make tons of money when her book about OBAMA comes out. She had no business being the moderator and Sarah Palin was correct to hit on areas where she and McCain have strength(energy).
