I need some advice please!!! Here's the deal. I've only been buying on EBAY for a couple of months. I have 100% on my feedback, because everything I win, I automatically E-Mail them and let them know I will send out payment that day or if the post office is closed the next day. I use money orders, so that they don't have to wait for a check to clear. I always do stand behind what I say, if I don't have the money in my pocket, I don't bid period. So anyways I did a Buy It Now on a book I was looking for. The book was a little over seven dollars but with shipping and handling it came to $16.03. Well it said they had five warehouses across the United States, but I had to send my money order to Canada. OK, so I E-mail them that I was sending it the next day, and I did. I get my money order back like a little over a week later, but no book no explanation nothing. So I E-mailed them TWICE more, no response. That was 11/4. So TODAY I get an Unpaid Alert on my account. I feel like I went above and beyond what I should have in the matter, I mean if I sent the money like I said and E-mailed them 3 times, what more should I have done? The other thing that bothers me is that when I hit the PAY NOW button on my account for that item it just takes me to "my invoice" at their website and never lets me mark it as paid. Plus the other couple of times I tried to mark it as paid when I went to their website, they had the exact same pictures and everything, but a different name for the store. That made a little apprehensive about the whole thing. So am I wrong here? Was there something I missed? I've never had this problem before, I don't want negative feed back over it, but I just feel like I did all I should have been expected to on my end and I shouldn't have to pay for the item now since they didn't respond to my original E-mails and payment. Please let me know what you all think.

Thanks,
Tonya

Was it for sure the company that returned your money order and not the post office?? What is their feedback like?? I stopped sending money orders a long time ago because of things like this. PayPal may cost a little more, but its worth it to me not to have to mess with getting a money order and mailing it, not mention postage, etc. Have you thought of switching over? That way PayPal has a buyers guarantee and they can't say you didn't pay. I would call eBay if you have any more trouble and can't get a response from the seller. Something similar happened to me when I was buying trains for my son. I emailed and emailed and then got a non-paying bidder alert on my account. I finally called eBay and they fixed it for me. To keep your feedback rating in good standing, it may be the only option. I think some of these companies get into eBay and don't realize how much work is involved and the demand is just overwhelming. I hope you can get everything sorted out!

I'm not sure what you can do in this situation. I guess, respond to the alert and tell your side of the story and hope ebay will see it your way. Can you access the emails you sent in your SENT folder? If you have those on hand, you can forward them on to ebay to prove you tried several times to get in contact with the seller.

And I agree, save yourself the aggravation and get a paypal acct. Its safe. You do hear the horror stories of people who get hacked, or scammed ect. But I've had an acct for 5 years and have NEVER had a problem. In fact, I have 2 accts, one is a free acct, no fee, and the other is my CC acct so I can accp CCs from ebay.

I've always sent money orders too but never experienced problems. How do
you set up a pay pal account? I'm always nervous because of the safety issue.

What happened????? I would respond to the non-paying email and tell them that you tried to pay and you e-mailed them and you would appreciate they contact you if there was a problem. I would also contact ebay and tell them your story. I think you should be able to get out of the purchase if you desire, especially if you saved copies of the emails and such.

UPDATE!

I did respond to the Alert. I told them about the E-mails, the money order everything. So it went back and forth a couple of times, the company said well why was the money order sent back? (They sent it back why would they not know, because they didn't bother to tell me why). They just didn't respond either way about why the E-mails were no answered, but they never said they didn't recieve them either. So finally after a couple of back and forths, the seller, said well how about if we just mutually agree to cancel the order. I said that was fine. I just feel like I did all I should have all along, and if they couldn't fulfill the order, they should have let me know up front. That's what I think happened, they didn't have it in stock, and instead of admitting it and responding to my first E-mail, they just sent back the money order, and when I E-mailed about that, they were stuck.

Just go to www.paypal.com and you can set one up there. Its free, easy and only takes a few minutes. You don't have to attatch it to your bank acct, but its helpful to do so. You may need to do so in the first place so you can transfer money into that acct to pay people online.

Just a warning to anyone who has a paypal account or who is going to get one. It is perfectly safe as long as you do not respond to any emails saying you have to verify your account or that there is a problem with your account. These are spam and they forward you to a site that is not Paypal to get your password. If Paypal needs to notify you of anything when you log onto your account they will let you know. NEVER respond to those kind of spoof emails. You can always phone paypal if you are unsure if the email is from them. I have had several friends have problems like this because they responded with their password to emails that were not really from Paypal. I have have been using it for 7 years and never had a problem.
