I bought a dress for dd. When I received the package I found two dresses inside. I immediately emailed the seller and asked her what did she want me to do. She asked that I mail it back (which I was going to do anyway) but didn't mention refunding the shipping for mailing it back. The dress was supposed to be mailed to someone else.

How should I word an email that lets her know I expect to be reimbursed for shipping the dress back to her? I know it sounds simple but I'm always worried that it will sound like I'm being rude. Thanks!

Couldn't you put the one back in the package and do a return to sender?

I would just let her know that she needs to send you the money to cover postage and then you will mail the package back. It is not your mistake, it is hers. She needs to reimburse you for it and I would not send it until she does. Have had to much trouble with ebay lately to trust people.

You can't do a return to sender after a package has been opened.

You need to send her an email and tell her that you expect her to pay for the shipping for it to be returned to her. It is her mistake not yours. You don't have to be rude, but be firm.

I sent her an email with a price quote that I got from USPS website for shipping. She has yet to respond. The dress she sent was supposed to go to someone else. What a mess!

Hmm, I have done it before just resealed the package. I guess it depends on packaging.

If I could afford it, I'd pay to send the dress back and count it as a random act of kindness. I try to do things like that as often as I can. However, if it was going to be a hardship for me or $ was tight that week, I'd just do what everyone else says and email the seller to ask her how she wants me to send it and how to pay for it.

Better yet, you could offer to send it to the CORRECT person with shipping confirmation *at her expense* but that saves her THEN sending it to the right person and saves THAT person the extra wait time

If she's a business (and I think she can do it even if not), she can issue a UPS call tag, or send you $ via Paypal.
