I sell Gymboree on ebay (well i used to I haven't sold any in a few months but I'm about to start with spring and summer) and it does VERY well.
You need to make your ad look nice, clear pics, good descriptions-most important is a good subject line, pretty ads. I use sellers source book when I list b/c of the gymbo templates. There are plenty of free ones out there though. It does take time. It would be a full time job to make that much money. I use the money from what I sell to buy clothes for my kids in the new size.

I think that timing is everything. January sales are down everywhere, including ebay. When you list items such as clothing stick to the season. You won't get as much for summer clothes right now. Research on Ebay and see what other items are selling for, do a completed item search and it will show you if the item is in demand or not. I don't like to waste my money on listing fees...who does?
I was selling a lot of ebay last year, but no high price items, just a little here and there, and it seemed like all of my profit went to ebay and paypal fees! I tried to do the ebay store, because the listing price is cheaper, but it was not worth it.

I have done great with ebay. I sell things that my kids have outgrown or things I find at estate auctions. I have done most of my birthday, Christmas shopping off of ebay. My girls clothing for back to school was purhcased here too..Every once in awhile we go on a spending spree on ebay. I've told my girls once I have a certaan amount in Paypal thenthey can watch and shop with my approval. For my niece, she had a baby in July 2006, everything she received from me was from ebay...all brand new items cost me about $45 with shipping...in a store I would've spend well over $100 plus the gas and 1 hour each way to the mall....great savings. I bought mu husband a chain saw sharpener, electricprinting calculator, my scanner/printer.fax and copier and all replacement ink jets, etc...the list goes on...but my best deal was a brand new Kiddie Carbon Monoxide detector for $9.54 (that includes the S&H too)...

I LOVE EBAY! I am a junkie.....I not only buy, last year I started selling. Don't get me wrong, I'm by no means getting rich. But if you can resell things you no longer want and things your kids outgrow.....the $$ you get is better then having a garage sale. And after really doing alot of research you can find what are the HOT items. So as I am out at the stores and see clearance items, going to Goodwill, garage sales, estate sales....I post them on Ebay for some extra $$. That extra money sure does comin in handy when you hneed gas, groceries or just want to treat the kids to that "something special" outing. Not to mention, I have met a tons of good friends!

I have done really well on ebay ever since I started looking at it as a job. Don't get me wrong, it is a job, but I can work around my kids. They are in school all day ( 8 & 11) so I spend my days listing, in between landury, cleaning etc.......I am trying to stay at home, so I have devoted a ton of time to make this work. I just started selling for others. I earn a % and they are happy that I am doing all of the work. I have to say it has become an addiction!

I think in the 3 years that I have been selling on Ebay....I have made over $5000. I do it every so often and all I do is clean out my closets. We have been on a couple of vacations just with our ebay money. I am actually going to start again...since I want to buy a new dining room. I would recommend this to anyone that has stuff they don't want and a couple of hours here and there to post and ship the stuff out. It really doesn't take much effort and you can make a little money.

What types of things sell best - I roamed around our Tuesday Mornings and tried to get an idea what to buy to resale but I left empty handed.

Maybe I'm a chicken, but I looked into selling and saw all the fees, and I thought that I wouldn't make much profit after paying ebay! How do you do it and still make money? Is it the volume of your selling or what? I have a ton of stuff that I would like to sell, but I really don't know how to do it without getting ripped off by the fees. Pointers would be really helpful.

That is exactly what I was thinking - once I sold something for $X.XX, take out what I paid for it (unless of course it was something that I used or worn then I would not take this out), the fees from Ebay, the fees from Paypay, the shipping and the expense of the shipping supplies I am not sure that I would come out ahead. But I do know that lots of people do make money on EBay. I am thinking that I am not looking at this right. I would really like to sell enough to build up some funds in Paypal to buy somethings on Ebay and it not come out of my checking account. Am I making any sense what so ever???
