Does anyone have really good success with ebay? I have heard of women spending $300 on clothes a month and making $3000 off of them. What's the deal? Any special tips on making it work? I get tired of listing stuff and it sells for squat and I watch other things for sale that are similar and they go for way more. I just don't get it. I guess you have to get the right people to come around or something. Just wondering if someone makes thousands of dollars a month selling stuff and what is it you sell.

I have made quite a bit, but I never made a business out of it. I always make profit. I have even bought things off ebay, not liked them, and resold them the same week for twice as much.

I have made quiet a bit for my Aunt. She has lots of Hummels, Lladros and Steinbachs. We have probibly made between $10,000-$20,000. Please know that this stuff costs lots for begin with and she is taking a loss on a lot of it.

I sell some personal stuff, but I notice new things tend to sell better than used. I bought a Leapster L-Max for $25 a Walmart. It is selling on ebay for $51 right now. Hoping it might even go higher before it ends in a few hours. It just depends. I have not put a lot of effort into it, but one day I hope to make a few bucks off it. By the way, holiday kids stuff sells great too, like Halloween costumes. If you pick them up for 75% off, like disney, you can usually make some money the next year.

Do you have "Tuesday Morning" stores in your area? They are a great place to find brand new merchandise at a fraction of the cost. They also have a great return policy too. You can list your items and if they don't sell, just return them. At least you're only out the listing fee. Keep your fees low by starting your items at 99 cents. Too high starting prices can scare people away. Place a reserve if you're scared of losing too much money.

Also, I think your feedback score and auction listing wording is super important too. I've had pretty good success but I make less than $400/month on it. Fine with me...too low to report on taxes, not running a business, and enjoy my favorite hobby...shopping (and reselling.)

I was happy with my success. I used my ebay profits to do our Christmas shopping. I think the people that make the big bucks do this full time. I used to belong to a group that sold children's clothing and they really put a lot of time into it! Scrap gold seems to do well. I got rid of several pieces of gold jewelry and did well on that. Some vintage items do well also. Search completed listings to see what the hot sellers are.

Not me, sold 2 things and had bad luck w/both so forget it.
Dh on the otherhand sells car parts and cars on there left and right and can make
$500/week profit doing it! He knows what will sell and researches it on ebay too.
It helps to supplement our income as I only work part time w/2 kids!

I just started about 2 weeks ago (selling stuff around the house that I no longer needed and clothes we have outgrown) I have made about $400 so far. I have noticed that the items I think will do really good...don't sell well. The items I think I am wasting my time on are the ones that sell. Go figure! The stuff I have sold the most of are Lane Bryant clothing, DVD sets, audio books and of course kids clothing! I really thought the Gap, NY & Co stuff would sell but it didnt (cute stuff too!)

About 5 years ago when we were planning on moving, we knew we would not make a profit on that house and needed money for a down payment. So we cleaned out the house and sold everything we did not want on Ebay. We put it all in a separate account. We ended up with enough for our down payment and to replace (unexpectedly) the sewer line on our old house. I was spending about 1-2 hours a day on it though.

Last year I went threw my old cloth diapers and I sold maybe 12 diapers on Ebay and ended up makeing out $200.00. That's the best profit I have made so far on Ebay. I was pretty excited non the less. I've sold some cloth liners I've made and have done ok with that. Not as much as the diapers but that's fine with me. I really wasn't expecting liners to do as well as they do.
I guess it really just depends on what you selling.

I do pretty good but yes it takes up ALOT of my time so I am trying to work on my EBay listing after the kids are down at night so from like 9-midnight But I do make about $100 a week. I am hoping that in the next few weeks to be getting about $200 a week. and then come Spring/Summer i am HOPING to do alittle better by hitting the garage sales.
