I really want to get rid of alot of my stuff to get the clutter out of my house. I have previously sold on ebay (mostly ds brandname clothes) and done fairly well. I recently starting selling stuff on craigslist and it is so easy. I have put all my babystuff on craigslist (bassinet, car bases, stroller, etc.) and also ds old MN gophers clothes (I figured there was more call for them locally), but I still plan on putting clothes on ebay. I was just wondering what people put on craigslist vs ebay, and why.

I LOVE CL, I'm addicted to CL, I can't say enough about it! I think it's one of America's best kept secrets! Even being as big as it is most people don't know what it is!
In case those reading don't know:
1. It's all local, you go to www.craigslist.ORG (not com) and pick your city bookmark it for future use.
2. Completely free, no fees no shipping
3. You name your price and pickup times
4. Free pictures and easy listings
5. Make an account and you don't have to enter your info over and over again! Much quicker to list. (I learned this after selling for months and doing the ad over and over while saying they should have something where you can just hit relist, THEY DO!)
6. It's more than just an online classified, it's a huge website, with childcare sections, employment, forums, etc. (even though I only use it for the buy/sell section) So if you are a childcare provider or pet sitter you can advertise for free in those sections, big plus for babysitters especially!

I sell gymboree on ebay, b/c clothes on CL are impossible! Furniture, baby gear/toys, kid stuff, household stuff etc does GREAT on CL. Clothes=NO

I have a bumbo seat and a breastpump to sell. Would you ebay or craigslist? The bumbo seat is in like new condition and the breastpump is used (which I have seen sell on ebay)

We just started selling some stuff on Craigslist (baby stuff) and the only complaint I have is people who contact you and say they are interested or want to buy the item and then you don't hear from them. As far as the breastpump and Bumbo, I have sold both on ebay and I sold the breastpump for $100, we paid $200 for it and the Bumbo sold for I think like $25 or $28 and we paid around $40 so not too bad I guess.

I would do ebay for these too. I sold my used breastpump for $65 when I paid $100 for it. Not to bad.

Put them on CL and you won't pay fees! These are items that cost alot to ship, remember that people ad in shipping costs so they won't pay as much.
I sold my bumbo for $25 and it sold and was gone in one day! I had MANY emails on it, very popular item!
Also sell the breastpump, list it at half of retail.
Why would you pay fees when you can keep more of your money? Put them on CL, if it doesn't sell first week, lower your price. After 2-3 weeks then put on ebay.

I have never tried CL but I will get it a go. The only thing that looks bad for me is that my city is not listed, the closest city is 50 miles away. Now I did do a search and just entered my city in it and there were a few postings. It is free so I have nothing to lose.
Anyone else been successful on it and not in a major city?

To those who have sold on Craigslist - what type of payment do you accept? Also, do they come to your house to pick it up? TIA

Now I've never bought or sold anything, but love looking through what people are getting rid of. They tend to have pretty good deals, most of the time it seems like it is people that want to get rid of their stuff, but don't want to spend so much to put it in local papers. This I guess cuts down on the price that they are asking in the long run.

I use both Ebay and CL. Ebay for things like gently used/nwt/nwot women's and kids' clothing. CL for larger items like bigger kids toys, baby paraphenelia, etc. CL is great for local selling of pick-up type things because on Ebay the ship costs can scare buyers off, plus on CL you of course have no fees.

I still like Ebay and generally do better than local consignment with clothing/shoes/accessories, though I have not listed in the last month or so.

A caution to the person who suggested using Ebay for the breastpump - check the rules. Ebay used to NOT allow used breastpumps for sale b/c they considered it medical equipment. Your listing could get pulled and then you're out the fees - this happened to me! You may get lucky but if someone reports you for a listing against Ebay policy, you'll lose the listing.
