Has anyone ever been scammed on Ebay. I used to use Ebay for every thing for the last 10 years until this past December. At the beginning of December, I went onto Ebay looking for a Playstation 3 60GB for my husband. I found this one guy who had 4 auctions going at the same time. I put them all in my ebay watch list to see what they would end up at, since they all had under 10 minutes to go. One ended at 680.00, another for 405.00, and another for 250.00. The title of his acution was Playstation 3 60 GB Wholesale List. It had a picture of the playstation, and it had a page and a half of detailed technical features. I won it for 455.00. Within 5 minutes of the auction, I paid immediately with Paypal. While I paid with paypal, I received an email from another ebayer, asking me if I won the console or a wholesale list. I said what is a list. Anyways, I immediately emailed the seller, and he tells me that he is selling the wholesale list, as to where I can buy the playstation for cheaper. I told him that I thought he was the wholesaler selling the playstation for cheaper, and that his add was misleading. I told him not to send me the website. He did, He sent me one website, Meanwhile while this was going on I emailed the others who won his auction, and was able to save one person from paying him. I put a claim in with paypal, but they sided with him. Anyways, when he sent the website, the playstation whas selling for 1200.00. The add claims that they will sell it for cheap, and it was actually double for what was selling in the store. (599.00) The other thing was that he was selling me a list, and he only sent me one name of a website.
To make a long story short, This is a lesson, this seller went on ebay in October, and unregistered himself in December. Also, I have not paid Paypal, I stopped payment in time from my bank, but now I keep getting collections notices, and phone calls. I have sent the president of Ebay and cc'd Paypal a letter of disappointment that this was an obvious scam, and refusal to pay for this scam. Before anyone buys for Ebay, checkout the seller and make sure that they have been there for a while.

We do not buy from anyone who has not been around awhile or does not have a lot of feedback. We got burned one time, but only for about $50. The guy never did mail out anything and had just listed a bunch of stuff at once and burned everyone who bought from him.

I purchased a pottery barn rug for 300.00 plus 60 shipping. She had great feedback close to 50 or so. I kept on getting excuses that her mother died etc so she couldn't get to the post office to mail out the rug. Before I knew it the time limit had gone by for disputes for ebay and paypal and never again heard from the woman. I will never make any big money purchases again off of ebay. You just never know! I still can't believe I am out $360!

yep, I've been burned a few times. Overall, mostly had GREAT deals, but the rotten ones ARE in there unfortunately,,, I'm sorry every time someone gets ripped off

I've only been ripped off once, but it was for less than $20. I eventually got my money back through PayPal, but it took over 2 months and numerous emails. I don't use Ebay as much as I used to 'cause when there is a problem it is a real pain in the butt. Sorry you got ripped off. I can't believe that guy got away with that. Just wondering but did you contact your state's attorney general? I know sometimes they can get involved in things like that.

Sorry to hear you got burned. I've had a few bad experiences but the worst was a Beauty and the Beast DVD I bought for my daughter. She was all set to watch it and it only played about half the movie. Ebay or paypal didn't do anything about it.

I think is the reason I am too scared to use Ebay for anything more than $50.00. Sorry for all of you that have been burned.

Wow! Sorry to hear all that! I only like to buy big ticket items from Brick & mortar stores, I want to be able to complain to someone in person!

Well I think I am being scammed right now, but it isnt for anything nearly as big as yours! I ordered some baby bottles, and it is 13 days later and nothing has come. I am out $20 bucks, and I am not happy, but just cutting my losses.
