I bid on an item and won. They item had the shipping cost posted in the listing. I received my invoice from the seller after the auction ended and there was an additional charge listed as "sellers Fees". I emailed the seller and asked what this was for as there was NO mention of sellers fees in the listing. This is the reply:

WHEN SHE PUT THIS ITEMS FOR SHIPPING IT WAS 1 LB 15 OZ JUST FOR KETTLE AND FORGOT HANDING FEES WITH AFTER FINISH PACKING.
IT WAS WEIGHTS MORE THAN WHAT WE THOUGHT AND ALSO PAPAL CHARGES AUTOMATICALLY 18CENTS FOR DELIVERY CONFORAMTION .
WE'RE TRYING TO CHANGE BUT IT WAS TOO LATE BECAUSE YOU WERE ALREDAY BIDIDDING ITEMS.
I'M SORRY! IF YOU'RE NOT HAPPY WITH THIS THAN I'LL CANCEL AND YOU DON'T HAVE TO PAY IT OR FORGET ABOUT THIS AUCTION I'M KIND OF LIKE THIS KETTLE TOO.I'M BUYING FOR MY CUSTOMER!
THANK YOU !

I bid 3 days before the auction closed and was the only bidder. At no time did the seller indicate the additional fee until I noticed it on the invoice.

Can the seller add this fee now? I want the item but feel the seller is trying to pull one over on me.

Here is the listing.
COPCO CHILI PEPPER SHAPE TEA KETTLE/MINT CONDITION! - (item 120146948964 end time Aug-06-07 08:37:29 PDT)

I honestly don't think they can do that. You should contact eBay. As far as I know, it's the sellers responsibility to make sure their costs are met prior, not after bidding ends.

Definitely contact ebay. That is false advertising, isn't it? If she gave a selling cost in her listing, she is the one who has to eat the difference!

I agree with everyone else. Contact e-bay. Forward her email if you have to. To my knowledge they can not change the price after bidding has ended and it seems they had ample time to contact you prior to the close of the auction if there was a change.

Nope, she can't do that! If they made a mistake, they have to bear the costs!

No she isn't supposed to do that. How much extra is she trying to charge you?

no they can't do that.

i recently bid on a sterling silver chain, and when i bid, the shipping charge was exactly 10.00. about 3 days before the listing ended, suddenly the shipping and handling charge was 33.00! i was so peed off! i contacted ebay and retracted the bid. the seller contacted me saying that it was a "mistake" and whatnot, but i know it wasn't. when i went through his feedback i saw that he had done that about 3 other times, and his response to all the negative given to him was, "the item sold for cheap! cheap ebayer not to buy!"

but the fact remains, whatever the bid is listed for is what it's supposed to be sold for, or you do NOT have to buy it. retract your bids and contact ebay.

i've noticed this "trend" lately, as i'm on ebay daily. they really need to do something about this.

Well, let tell you that I have made this mistake before. Guess what happened, I ATE it. Trust me, after you eat a couple of shipping fees, you do not make many mistakes. That is so wrong and I would contact ebay and forward the correspondence you have. If she gets to many complaints, they will suspend her account.

That's absolutely wrong! How much more were you charged? Scratch that! Regardless of how much, it is not allowed. You should definitely report them.

Let us know what happens.
