I am thinking of trying e-bay to make a little extra money. Where do you get your items? Do any of you make the things you sell? Thanks!

I usually sell dd's clothes from last season or anything I decide I no longer want. You wouldn't believe how much accumulates in my house.
There are also seasonal sales and discount chain stores like Daffy's and Marshall's. You can find great designer duds to make a profit with on Ebay. I've done it.
Good Luck!

Also, garage sells are a great place to pick things up. If you learn your antiques or collectables, sometimes you can find a steal and make a mint. Also, if you live in a large city, you can pick up large Tykes, Fisher Price and Step Two play toys. The large climbers, houses, kitchens ect. You can buy them for $10 to $20 bucks and make $50 to $100 with pick up only. Just be sure the item is in nice to very good condition or it will clean up....

That's a great idea! I never even thought about purchasing outside toys for resale on Ebay. Thanks!

the thrift stores in the nyc metro area are LOADED with great deals, so i was considering going that route. alot of it is clothing, but if it's sold in large lots with shipping that is ACCURATE and NOT hiked up, the profit would be basically decent for a smaller income.
as a buyer of clothing on ebay, i prefer to buy in lots and pay one flat fee, versus buying 5 seperate items and then paying a shipping fee on each item.
so even in a flooded market (like another poster spoke about) such as clothing, with low shipping charges and alot of items to one sale, it's worth a shot.
living in an expensive area has it's benefits. people around here throw name brands around a dime a dozen. so they are super easy to come across. it just takes time and patience to sift throught the hundreds of items and dozens of stores we have in these areas.
but it can be done. and i'm going to give it a shot.
and yes, every now and then you come across a real steal. my mom found a real pablo picasso ink blot art piece in a frame, paid 2.50 for it. then she paid 5.00 for an original poster done by a well known french artist. we researched it, found out that there are only 5 of them in the world, and she has one. she found it on the floor at a thrift store.

I used to really do well at Goodwill in my area. It has since gone a bit downhill. I also have access to a Salvation Army, but that place is just nasty. I buy mykids quite a bit at CS, and then resell on ebay when we are done with them.

I just recently started selling on Ebay. I used to do alot of yard sales and such trying to make a few dollars but it got old fast. Since I had my baby it got even harder.
Alot of people were telling me I should try Ebay so I gave it a shot. I purchased on Ebay in the past and it was fairly simple and the selling part wasn't difficult.
Anyway I have been selling things my kids won't wear or have grown out of and other things around the house. My friends and family members have been helping out to by giving me their kids old clothes and things they don't want anymore.
I let them know what I was doing to earn some extra money and if they had anything they were getting rid of I would take it of their hands for them.
After I get it I just go through and see if it is in good enough condition and donate the things I don't think I can sell.

Who doesn't like to shop right? I go buy things off season or sell my kids gently used clothes, but have found selling gently used is only profitable around start of school time, so I usually sell my scrapbooking items or die cuts. I also enjoy garage sales so even if they don't sell for much, I didn't pay much to begin with. But really clearance items are the way to go! I just like to shop and get a good deal. There are books you can get at the library about ebay selling if these ideas don't help.

You can also go to Ross or TJMaxx or that type of store and pick something up.
If it doesn't sell, you can always return it.
