Hi,

gotta????

I sold some formula on EBAY on the 13th... the auction ended on a sunday so for the people that already paid I packaged up their items and took them to the post office first thing Monday morning. Well I usually ship the cheapest which is parcel post and it states that in my auction. But for some reason the 4 people I sent it to which where in NY and NJ and I am in TN took forever to get their packages. I thought for sure they would have gotten there by the weekend. Well all of 1 package has arrived. I have been in contact with her for over a week now. Well she wants her money back now... which I can totally see I mean it has been forever. But what if I refund her and then she gets the package? Do I refund the shipping to? Her addy was verifyed through pay-pal so I have no idea why her package has not gotten to her yet.. But now I am going to be out of money. :-( I want to do the right thing but for both of us. YKWIM? Please help me? I just don't know if I tell her to wait or do I just return the amount of the bid? I DUNNO

Thanks gals and looking forward to your reply
Shawna

Oh, yeah I paid with pay-pal card thinking that it automatically insured it well not at the post-office!

Thanks

If you offered insurance and she did not pay for it, then she is out of luck in my opinion. If you didn't offer insurance, then I would refund her money and always state, in the future, that you are not responsible for lost packages if insurance is not purchased.

Me being not so smart thought that by paying with the pay-pal credit card it insured it upto 1000 but that is only if you buy tracking... So I thought I was being safe but kinda screwed myself.

It was just the 13th, tell her to give it a few more days. ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS get delivery confirmation!!!!!! It is well worth the 55 cents. The best way to ship is to get yourself a small scale and weigh the packages yourself and do the shipping through your paypal account. When you do that, you get delivery confirmation for only 13 cents and you can schedule a pickup at your front door. A scale is only about $20-25 on ebay or you can buy one at Staples or any office supply store for around $30.

As CrankyMom said, YOU ALWAYS NEED TO GET D.C.!!! NOW HERE IS WHAT I DO!

I have a Wal-Mart scale that weighs up to 3lbs. I use it for everything!!! I also print out shipping labels from Paypal directly! It also gives you free D.C. So it saves you about 50 cents on average, per transaction!!!

To save my butt, I typically kept the shipping receipt from the post office. If my buyers do not choose to buy insurance, I just save the receipt to show proof of shipment

always get delivery confirmation AND save receipts from the PO.
after 14 days you can call the PO for them to look into finding the package.

I live in Tennessee, too and here's what I know about Parcel Post. The main post office hub for Tennessee is in Memphis. All Parcel Post packages go to Memphis to be sorted (Priority & First Class mail go directly to the recipient). Once in Memphis, it gets sorted and then sent out. It can take up to 2 weeks for Parcel Post to be delivered and the Post Office will not begin to investigate until "14 Post Office business days" have passed.

As others have mentioned, always get delivery confirmation. Sometimes (not always) the Post Office will scan at each stop point and so you could check the Post Office website to get an idea of the last place that the package was.

I would tell the buyer that Parcel Post is one of the slowest delivery methods and can take up to 2 weeks to be delivered. I've never (so far) had a Parcel Post package not be delivered within the 2 week timeframe.
