I purchased a NFL sweatshirt for over $150 on ebay. Recieved the item fast, but when hubby put it on, we realized it has a security tag on it! Like the ones they put on clothes at the mall and they have a special machine that removes it. It is unwearable with this tag! I have e-mailed the seller twice with no response and have opened a Paypal dispute with no response.

Anyone have any experience with escalating these disputes (you and the seller can't agree, so paypal decides)?

I'm a little worried that they would tell me to send it back as I am a VERY nervous it would never make it back to me after all this lack of communication!

Yikes. You may have gotten stolen merch, but I hope not. It's possible to track down the store that can remove the tag. It depends on whether you want your item intact or your money back. Any time I have tried to settle a dispute it ends up not being for enough money or something. So I have no helpful advise that way. Good luck!!!

The store is in Las Vegas (I'm in VA)! I think it was legit as the tags on the garmet matched the website they made me checkout with paypal through. Well, if paypal give you partial money back, then maybe it is worth a shot. We would rather try to remove it ourselves than send it to them to remove.

Is it electronic or ink? If ink, do not try to do it yourself! Either way, there may be another store around you that will remove it. Check around and see. I understand if you aren't comfortable with that though.

This may be worth looking at:

Try JC Penney's. I hate to admit this, but last year I bought a special occasion outfit on super clearance, and when I tried it on to wear it almost a year later, the darned security tag was still on it!

Of course the receipt was long gone. I just boldly, but respectfully, asked my favorite saleslady to remove it for me.

Try printing out your EBay receipt and taking the jersey in...chances are they will remove it for you if they can! Good luck.

We got it off using trusty screwdriver to pry it off. No damage to the garmet. This still bugs me though since they NEVER responded!
