I am signed up and ready but have not listed anything yet.

Etsy is a site that you can sell handmade items on. You list your item at what you want to sell it for and it is listed for I think 2-3 months. There are no bids. You do get feedback and ALL items are handmade.

Etsy

If anyone does this, do you do well? I only have papercrafts that I want to sell but I notice that they do not go as well as knitting and sewing projects. Which I am starting to learn and perfect more and more everyday.

My husband tried to sell something once on there, but it didn't sell soon enough. I have bought a few things from there. Pretty neat site, isn't it?

I don't know anyone who has bought or sold anything there, but it is such a neat site!
I wonder how much traffic it gets?

I have never even checked it out! I was so burnt out with ebay that I just basically gave up on everything. But I do make bows and pillowcase dresses for my girls, I'd love to sell more!

Etsy is cool but...
You can get feed to death by trying to keep your items in front of buyers. The 'trick' to using etsy successfully is to keep listing items for sale. Ideally once a day. Keep in mind that listings cost .20 cents a pop so that can add up. Yes the listing stays active for 4 months, but unless your items are 'bumped' (relisted) you will get buried under the zillions of other listings. There is a wealth of helpful info in the Etsy user forums about selling, but it isn't as cheap as it looks. I mean they take a percentage of your sale, then their listing fees, and then your paypal fees have to be figured into that too. =)

Give it a shot! It is really cool. And I think that it gets quite a bit of traffic. I have some stuff listed on there right now. People on there I think are really into homemade stuff and so you are going to get people that only buy homemade items. It is 20cents to list an item and that item is listed for 3 months. It is not a bidding site you set one price for the item and when it is sold that is the price you get for it.

Oops guess I took too long posting. RMA covered it well. Better than me. I didn't realize there were so many fees. But you are right there is a wealth of information on there about how to be successful with it. Forums and stuff.

I've sold a few things on Etsy in the past. I decided to start selling on my own web site. I make handmade jewelry, lampwork beads, knitted belts and mosaics.
Have a great day!!!

I listed a pillowcase dress on etsy the other day, just to try it. Also listed an identical one on eBay. We'll see what happens!
