I have lots of stuff to sell, from collectibles to toys to outgrown clothes. Which site is better? Those of you who have experience with both, what are the advantages/disadvantages of each site? I live in a fairly rural area so yard/garage/tag sales don't generate a lot of customers.

I've purchased items from Ebay, but never sold anything and I've never used Craig's List at all.

I'm sure this is info that many of us who are looking to get into the online selling area will appreciate!

I like ebay for collectibles, craigslist for large items. I'm now leaning more to craigslist for more things. I also watch the "wanted" part of craigslist, and i've been doing pretty good getting rid of junk that way- right now I'm in a transaction to sell about 250 books in bulk to someone. I had them on half.com (ebay), but the shipping ate up any profit, and it's too many books - I was selling them for $1, paying fees and shipping, and I'd be lucked to "make" $0.50 on them.

I did some clothes on ebay, again the whole low price, cut by fees = very little profit. I chose to donate my clothes to Salvation Army, since I have been buying my clothes there anyway.

I like to do a search on ebay for whatever I'm selling. If things are selling for a "good" price, and there are bids on them, I'll list on ebay. If not, I'll put it on craigslist. I like free listing

I think i tdepends on the shipping factor. People are looking for a good deal, so if shipping for an item is going to make it unreasonable- sell it on craigslist. Also, craiglist is way cheaper- no fees!!!

I started on eBay when it was only about 2 weeks old! I LOVED it for along time but gradually their policies, fees etc changed too drastically and I quit using them all together.

I sell on Craigslist now and LOVE it. It's FREE -- turn around time is usually pretty quick since you are dealing locally. I've literally posted an ad -- got a response -- had them pay/pick-up the item -- all within less than an HOUR! lol Can't do that with ebay!

Some items will go slower on Craigslist but I really can't complain since it is free. Also, typically, you may have to post your prices lower but then again, consider that you pay NO fees, don't have to mess with packing, shipping etc.... it's worth a few bucks off the item.

We recently sold a vehicle on ebay very quickly. However, I rarely use it for buying or selling these days. I have gotten a lot of good deals but when you factor in shipping a lot of things are not worth it.

I am the Craigslist queen. I have sold 50+ items. I agree, you can get something listed, sold and picked up in the same day. I do keep prices low to move things quickly.

I use craigslist for big or heavy items or things that would just not sell on ebay.

I am a huge seller on ebay and do it as my full time job. I sell mostly clothing but other things as well. It really just depends on how much time you want to put in it.

Ebay requires more time than craigslist
