People are boycotting because a couple weeks ago, Ebay announced some changes. They were hyping a reduction in listing fees and now gallery will be free of charge. Sounds great, right? Wrong, while they were hyping the listing fee reduction and the free gallery picture, they were hiding the fact that they were increasing the final value fees. The 5 cent reduction in listing fees and the free 35 cent gallery picture doesn't equal the full 2% increase in final value fees on all items. Plus the higher the item sells for the more of an increase there will be. So you can list that item for 99 cents but if it sells for $100, it is still going to cost you an additional $2-3.
The even bigger issue is that ebay also made changes to their feedback program. Every feedback will now count, whereas multiple purchases from one buyer only counted as 1 feedback before. Sellers can no longer leave negative or neutral feedback for buyers. Which means that if a buyer gets mad about anything, then they can buy 15 of your items and leave 15 negative feedbacks and everyone of them will count against you.
Also, If you buy on Ebay, you will have noticed the star ratings on feedback. The higher the stars you have, especially regarding shipping speed and rates, the higher your item will appear in the searches. Now when you go to Ebay, it automatically searches for "best match". I personally hate that because I want , ending soonest. They are making it harder on individuals to sell and make money. They offered a discount to powersellers, but from what I have heard is that out of the top 100 powersellers on Ebay, only 7 qualify for the discounts. Therefore the discounts are too difficult to achieve. The boycott is supposed to last until the 25th.
