okay, I don't buy from ebay often but I have used ebay b4. I was currently the highest bidder and to ensure that I won, since the bid b4 me was only .11 cents lower, I bid again. I did win the auction, but the bid price went up? I was the high bidder already, I thought it was only supposed to change my highest bid not the actual bid price since I was already the highest bidder. does that make sense? well, even if I pay the higher amount it won't matter it only .40 cents higher, but I need to know for future bidding. I have always bid this way and this is the first time this happened. TIA

There were probably more bids placed before you bid again. Sometimes I'll bid up to 10 more times just to try and win an auction.

It's kinda hard to explain...but if your highest bid was $10.50. And the item was at $6. You will still show as the high bidder until someone bids over $10.50. Until then, as other bids are made, you can see the item amt go up. You're still the high bidder, just others are bidding against your bids.

Since the auction is over, you can see the bids usually if you click on the bid history.

yah since your bid was only .11 higher, when you bid, it went up by .40 to make your bid .50 higher than the last bid. . Bids under I think $20 only go upin 50 incraments. does that make sense?

so even if I only bid once would my ending bid been 10.11 or 10.50. it does make sense, but it doesn't because it looks like I'm bidding against myself? ok I just figured it out. I should have not bid again in this case. good thing it was only a 40 cent lesson. thanks ladies.
