im trying to buy up a bunch of lowes gift cards to pay for our deck project. this auction is interesting to me because its a huge savings...but my thinking part of my brain is telling me not to do it because its just doenst make sense.

why would this person not just return the complete saw kit thing and then auction off the gift card...to which he can get much more money on ebay...instead of sending you the entire thing?

i emailed him questions -
1. date of receipt
2. is that the original packaging of the power saw thing
3. do you offer a refund if lowes does not accept the return?

so, they didnt tell me the date of the receipt, told me its in its regular packaging and that they do not offer a refund.

but i looked on their feedback and some others have been fine with this practice.

someone clue me in....my heart wants to save the bookoo bucks but my brain is telling me "no way!"

Wow, that is odd. Why would he buy these and sell them for less than paid? He has done this with more than 1 set so that doesn't make sense. I wouldn't risk it but that is because it is so much money to risk. I just couldn't afford to be out that kind of money. There is something not right about this. If you are still considering it definately get the date on the receipt, item amount vs tax because if you exchange in a different state they may give you a different tax amount back. I would ask payment method too. Maybe he had a gift card and wanted cash so he bought something to sell. I do wonder why he wouldn't just sell the gift card? Good luck whatever you decide. If you go for it I hope it works out!!!!

Well, I believe in the "if it is too good to be true, it probably is" mantra. Even if that works out, it sounds like somewhere along the line there was something questionable done so I would not risk it both for the money and my integrity. I could be wrong, but it just doesn't sound that great.

When we did our floors I spent $3 on a coupon on e-bay from Lowe's and saved $750! I would probably just stick with that route. JMO

my thinking part of my brain says no, so im gonna listen to it. it does seem too good to be true - i really just want to ask the seller why they're selling this. it just doesnt add up. unless its stolen or something..what else could it be?

i'd rather have something go wrong in a small amount auction than risk this kind of cash...

thanks ladies

I think that is a smart move. The whole things sound wierd to me. It could be he got it for less than the retail price but then how would he have a receipt that shows retail price.

I can't help but wonder if he did buy one and somehow got a hold of a stolen one. I do not know why he would want to go to all the trouble of listing, paying the fees and shipping when all he has to do is take it back to Lowes. You made the right choice. Something is fishy.....

if you look at the sellers name it says rrpawn or something like that... could he own a pawn shop? And this is the other way to sell them? I would be skeptical too however! Could be stolen for all ya know.
